Programs being deleted without request

I use(d) edonkey and have done for months after installing WD it came up as
expected and wanted to remove the software, I told it to ignore and carried
on working, that night the system ran the daily check at 0200 and at 0221
removed the software and deleted 10Gb of my data. I have checked my system
and workstation was locked from 10pm to 6pm yesterday so I know no one told
WD to do it. I have tried to recover the data but none of the software i have
can so far recover all my lost files.

This happened because the setting "Apply actions on detected items after
scanning" is enabled, and the alert level for the threat "eDonkey2000" is
"High", which means it is something that will be removed without user
intervention if the "Apply actions..." setting is turned on.

You can turn this option off in Tools | General Settings to avoid having
anything automatically removed in the future.

It may also be a mistake that eDonkey2000 is listed as a "high" severity
threat.

I am not happy with this; any program by default should not delete files from
a user’s computer without express permission. I had already told it to ignore
edonkey, it then ignores my decision and deletes huge numbers of files. Which
after two days of trying I cannot recover, i have used every piece of
software I know and nothing can find over 10 GB of my data. This is a major
"feature" of this software and users need to be warned. This function must by
chosen the user not by Microsoft. Microsoft may not like file sharing
programs but it is immoral to engineer programs to delete them. The fact it
removed not only the program but all the files stored in my "my documents
store" is appalling.
