Programs and Features locations

I tried installing my Sony DVD camcorder software and at first it said it
couldn't install on this version but then Vista offered to install it in
compatibility mode. I stupidly allowed it to and then began getting Blue
Screens. When I try to use the Programs and Features to uninstall it just
says that the install can't be done on this OS and that's the end of it. I
was thinking maybe I could change the program properties to run in
compatibility mode and uninstall but I can't find the programs. How do I
tell from the Programs and Features which program it's trying to run for the
uninstall?

You could try right-clicking on the column headings of "Uninstall or change
a program", making sure you are in Details View, and choosing, "More...",
and then choosing Location. It *might* show up...

You could also run the Program Compatibility Wizard to find which program
was changed. it's in the Control Panel somewhere, but I can't find it;
copying and pasting this in Run should work:

mshta.exe res://%SystemRoot%\system32\acprgwiz.dll/compatmode.hta

Tell the Wizard "I want to choose from a list of programs", and then look
under the Settings column to see what programs have been changed
compatibility-wise. Then you can Cancel, once you have the information.

Thanks for the reply; I tried both things but neither shows the programs that
got installed nor what program the Programs and Features is trying to run to
uninstall.
