Programmes not loading

I have a major problem on my other computer.

It starts OK and the desktop loads but then it freeezes and it seems as
though it cannot load any programmes.

The only programme loaded since it was last working ok was MacAFEE.

I cannot get into Start to remove it and pressing F10 when starting
does not bring up Recovery.

I would be very grateful for any ideas.

Thanks.

Great - thank you - In Safe Mode I had the option to go back to Last
known good configuration which I did and it works. McAffee is still
there but is not causing a problem ....so far.
