When I connect a removable disc (camera) Windows XP asks me which program to
use to access the files. There are many programs shown in there that I'm not
interested in using and would like to remove from the list. Also, the program
that I usually use to access multimedia is not shown in the list. Does anyone
know how to achieve the above?
There's no reason to remove items from the list. What you need to do is
to check the box to "Always do the selected action." After this box is
checked, the Autoplay dialog box should not open when you attach the device.
The items in the list that you are talking about are called "Autoplay
handlers." It's a bit unusual for an application that works with media
not to have installed its own Autoplay Handler, but if this is indeed
the case, download TweakUI from
http://windowsxp.mvps.org/tweakui.htm
After you have downloaded TweakUI, run it, expand the My Computer and
then AutoPlay menus, click on "Handlers" then use the "Create" button to
add an Autoplay Handler for your preferred application. It's pretty
straightforward, but for more info:

TweakUI won't let you delete Autoplay Handlers that have *not* been
created by TweakUI. As I said above, there is no reason to do so. If
you really want to, however, see
