Program to capture webcam video

I bought a cheap webcam, and it came with a CD of software to capture/edit
video, but this software is horrible (bugged, bad translation, crashes).

Any good free software for webcam video capture?
I want to use the webcam as a security camera, so I'm looking for a program
that can add date/time to the captured images.

dorgem, over at sourceforge:
http://dorgem.sourceforge.net/

If you specifiy a filename like:
snapshot%G%g.jpg
that should give you what you want. You can also set the time interval
between snapshots.
