Program Teminations

have windows 2000. We also have IExplorer 6.0

Recently we have run across the following error messages:

Microsoft visual c++runtime library
Runtime error!
Program: C:\Program files\Internet explorer\iexplore.exe
abnormal program termination

I was instructed by an IT at my place of employment. He suggested to go to
add/remove - go to Microsoft internet explore - change/remove. Try to repair
it through there. Did so and got the following messages:

an error occurred calling "Dll register server" in
C\winnt\system32\dxtrans.dll (HRESULT=80040154)

an error occurred calling "Dll register server" in
C\winnt\system32\dxtmsft.dll (HRESULT=80040154)

an error occurred calling "Dll register server" in C\winnt\tdc.ocs
(HRESULT=80040154)

Any advice??????

Hi Pete,

Have you tried completely removing Internet Explorer 6.0 and reinstalling
it?

I have not tried it. I am not the smartest person when it comes to removing
and installing. I would not even know where to get it from. I am what you
would consider a dinasour when it comes to this stuff. I am afraid I would
ruin something else on the box.

You do not say which operating system you are using but with XP, when IE 6
went stupid on me, (it kept closing with an error and sending off so many
reports to MS that I must have filled a server or two). I used

Start > Run

regsvr32 urlmon.dll

I will not say all my troubles went away, but the IE6 ones did!

Hi,
Re: the Runtime error! See:
http://www.doxdesk.com/parasite/CommonName.html

Or this could be caused by another parasite. Work through the solutions
(CWShredder, Ad-aware, Spybot) at
http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/unwanted.htm Also note the security tips on that
page.

Hope this helps,
