Program not responding or opening in read-only mode

There is one computer, that when opening an Access database file fro
within Access, gets the message "this program is not responding". The
when Access is closed, and they try to open the file from the Window
browser, they get a message saying that the database is open i
read-only mode. But this is only on the one computer, other computer
do not have these problems. The database was made in Access 2000, an
all computers accessing it use Access 2000. All of the librar
references seem to be intact too. What could the problem possibly be

It seems to me that the machine has corrupted the Access installation. First
try to re-register DAO:

Start >>> Run type: regsvr32.exe "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft
Shared\DAO\dao360.dll"

and you should get a message that it succeeded. If that doesn't hel[, you
can try to do a repair (from the Help menu) or you can just "bite the
bullet" and uninstall, reboot, clean the registry with regclean (on your
Office CD), reboot again, then reinstall.
