Program errors after deleting and resizing partitions

Hi,

I have a computer that used to have 5 partitions (xp home, xp
proffesional, 2000, 98, and one for data) but i have deleted the 2000
and 98 partitions and added them to the data partition and the xp home
partition. After deleting the 98 partition last friday, i slid it below
the xp home partition and resized xp to take up the free space. After
resizing xp i have installed two games and both games seem to install
fine but have a program error when started up. This program error
doesnt tell any details and it forces the program to close. Programs
that were installed before this partition work operate fine but
anything installed after doesnt. Is there a way to fix this problem
without wiping the xp partition (need the data and i dont have the boot
cd)? and if i do have to wipe the partition, can i backup up the files
without also backing up the messed up part?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

What application/utility did you use to delete/slide/resize the partitions?
What OS/partition were the 2 games installed on before?

It's possible you may have some bad pointers in the registry. For a simple check
conduct a find in the registry for the 2 named apps and see if any pointers are
present for another partition.
Click Start > Run, type in: regedit and press Enter.
Press ctrl+F.
Type in anything relate to the game manufacturer/name.
Click Find Next.
Press F3 to continue the search after each entry is found.
Close out of the registry when done.

DO NOT delete anything from the registry unless you are 100% knowledgeable of what
you are deleting and what the consequences are when deleting registry entries.

You may also find some information on the issues in the Event Viewer.
Click Start > Run, type in: eventvwr.msc and press Enter.
Look at any Warning or Error entries in each category and follow any links included
with the description for a possible solution.
