Profile weirdness/upgrade from Win98

Mike W.

In attempting to troubleshoot a user's machine, I've come
across an issue I can't fix.

This box was originally Win98 SE and was upgraded (not
clean install) to Win2k SP4. There are currently 3 user
profiles stored locally: a local administrator and the
user's domain profile, plus one that's simply
titled 'user', likely a remnant of the Win98 upgrade
process.

The problem is that when this user logs into his domain
account, his email, documents and probably other settings
are being stored in the 'user' profile, and possibly in
the 'Administrator' one as well.

His "My Documents" folder was still pointing to C:\My
Documents so I fixed that, and fixed his address book by
importing "user"'s addresses into his. But, I can't get
Outlook Express to use the folder that's in his profile.
Even if I erase the Outlook Express mailbox folder, it
gets recreated upon each launch.

Is there some kind of profile repair utility I can use to
start fresh, or would it be better to just erase all
profiles (after backing up docs&settings) and recreate?

Thanks.

Always best to do a clean install. OE|Tools|Options|Maintenance|Store

Thanks Dave.

Wow, do I ever feel like an idiot not seeing that setting
in OE before. Likely when there's a little less to do I'll
try reintalling Win2k clean.

There's nothing idiotic about asking questions in these groups and leaning
from other here just like you. I can't list all of the things I've learned
in these groups by reading other posts/ replies.
