Hi all,
I have once asked the following question but could't get an answer or
could't imlement it so I ask it here again-
In one of my PC's my profile name is composed as follows
<user_name>.<Cimputer_name>
I would like it to cahnge it to <user_name> as it is in all other PC's
This PC like all the others, belongs to the same Workgroup and not to a
domain.
How can I do that?

This often happens when a profile gets corrupted and Windows creates
a new profile. Quoting from "Differences in the User Profiles in
Windows" (<http://support.microsoft.com/kb/269378>)

-------------------
Windows 2000 and Windows XP handle duplicate down-level account names
as well but in a slightly more intuitive manner. A suffix is placed
on the username of the profile that is either the name of the domain,
if the user account is a domain account, or the name of the computer,
if the user account is a local user account.
-------------------

The only way I know to fix this would be to create a new, different
user name, then copy the profile to this new user. Then delete the
old user and old user's profile (R-click "My Computer" -> Properties
-> Advanced -> User Profiles / Settings -> Select account, then
"Delete". ) Caution: make sure all files are backed up before you do
this. After that, re-create the original user and copy the profile
back from where you stored it.
