Profile doesn't recognize Keyboard

I have Windows XP. When systme boots up it ask you to select a Profile. The
one it's on doesn't recognize my keyboard and will not do anything. I've
tried to restore from CD, but that gives two choices and again, the keyboard
doesn't work. I've unplugged the computer and let it sit over night with no
success. Is the a recoverable program anywhere?
