"Profile already exists" - when there are no profiles

M

Microsoft

I removed my old profile - so now I have no profiles. I'd like to name it
the same profile as before as I've already created various shortcuts (which
I could remake but lets assume I'm more curious about the issue than the
shortcuts)

Lets say the old profile name was mail and that I've deleted it so when I go
to the mail through control panel it now says there are no profiles so I
want to add one and name it mail - it says "the profile name you have
entered already exists. Please enter a different profile name"

How do I remove the profile name from its history/memory?

Thanks

It should be released when you start the Mail applet in Control Panel.
Otherwise remove it manually from;
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows
Messaging Subsystem\Profiles

Hi There,

Before editing the registry, please check for application which making use of outlook profile. Messaging application such as: Microsoft Communicator make use of the same outlook profile. So, Signout and exit the dependent applications and try to add a new profile. This has helped me and I want you to give it a try :)

If things still fails, try restarting ur desktop / laptop and ensure no other applications are running when ur trying to add a new outlook profile.

Regards,
Anwer
