Product key

Is the product key number on a 2000 cd the same as the
poroduct id in the windows/current version in the
registry. We imaged several HDs and I want to go in and
change the product key number to the licenses that we
bought.

No. Actually the Product Key is stored in the registry, but in an
encrypted format. It's not the same code as the Product ID that
is displayed in System Properties.

There's no need to do that under Win2K. WinXP is a different
matter. Just put a label on each machine with the individual
product key, and use it next time you (or if you ever) reinstall
Win2K.
