product key office 2007 trial version not valid

Can somebody please help me out?

I have an official version of office 2002 and tried to install this on my
new computer (vista). I did not succeed: I recieved an error message that the
product key was not correct. It was the official product key, however.

Because I did have to send and receive some emails, I just downloaded the
trial version of office 2007 (standard) and this time a product key for the
2007 version was mailed to me.
However, every time I try to enter this code I again get the error message
that the product key is wrong.

What to do?

Any help would be appreciated.

thanks!

Hi Diane

Yes, I realised 2002 might not be working on vista That was one of the
reasons I first just accepted the error message and downloaded 2007.
(I did uninstall 2002 before installing 2007).

But the problem on both versions is the same: I can install it (for which I
also need the same code, at least for 2002 I did) but I cannot activate it.

I dit check the characters and I did not only try to type them (multiple
times), but I also used cut-paste from the mail I recieved for 2007, so I am
quite confident that there were no errors in it.

Since I can not activate it, I will not be able to buy it either.

I tried the online support but in order to get that, it is checked whether I
have a valid version. Which means I have to give the ID as found in the
about... part of outlook, but there is no ID since I cannot activate it. And
support also does not accept/recognize the product key I recieved in the mail.

Any ideas how to get this working?

Did you triple check the characters you typed?

Note that office 2002 was not tested and is not supported on Vista.

Check in the office.setup forum on this server -
http://www.microsoft.com/communities/newsgroups/en-us/default.aspx?dg=microsoft.public.office.setup -
they would likely know the best thing to do, but my suggestion would be to
get a new key by requesting a new download. But there might be better
ways...
