Processor Bus Matching RAM

I have a CPU with a 333 Bus, and I was just wondering, 400 RAM won't run at
400 in with that processor will it?

I bought PC2700 (333) RAM just because I didn't think it would run with my
CPU.

Thanks in advance.

Confusing note. You bought 333 RAM because you didn't think it would run?
Or you mean you bought 333 because you thought 400 wouldn't run? Do you
mean 400 wouldn't run, or 400 wouldn't run at 400? It's kind of hard to get
400 memory to run at a 400 bus speed when the bus speed is set to 333. 400
will work fine on a 333 bus speed, but of course it will run at 333. The
number is not an actual speed, it's just a rating. The 400 RAM is rated up
to 400 bus speed. The 333 might also run at 400 bus speed - these are not
exact numbers for the RAM. The bus speed is an exact number, there is no
actual speed associated with your RAM other than how high of a bus speed it
can handle. It's kind of like car tires. You can buy tires rated up to
100mph, or 150mph, etc. But how fast you drive is up to your car, not your
tires. Your tires might handle the speed, and they might not.

If your MB allows it yes it can. I have an XP2000 with the CPU set at 133
and PC2700 RAM (166Mhz) running at 166.

Not overclocked just different settings, most MB will set the RAM speed to
the CPU speed by default but that can be changed if your RAM can take it.

Hope this helps
