Processes launch, apps won't

Working on my mom's computer. I can get a process to
launch (like excell or word) but the application never
launches. From a users end, she sees the Word logo pop up
but never leave. I can't launch admin functions in
control panel, but the processes run. Could use a point
in the right direction.

I sounds like your low on memory or maybe there are some issues with you page file.
Do the harddrive trash around after you click on MS Word?
