I have a client who requires Netscape for email. My OS is Win XP Prof SP1
with IE 6.
Whenever I install Netscape over a previous installation of IE 6 SP1 et al,
it screws up a few settings in IE, most of which I can fix just by using the
options settings in XP or IE. However, there is was annoying problem that
causes the loss of image saving to a known file extension -- such as a jpg
file. Typically, upon viewing any jpg image and right-mouse clicking the
file save as, the default extension becomes a .jpeg or .jpe. Obviously the
registry entries hooked into Explorer get corrupted somehow. Normally, the
file gets saved automatically with the proper extension. The only "fix"
I've found is to reinstall IE 6, which usually works (using the registry key
change method to say the IE 6 isn't installed and then reinstalling)
Is there a simpler fix for this rather than a total reinstall?
Thanks in advance!
