I'm running Windows XP pro.
Recently, I tried to play a CD using WMP 9.0 and discovered that my CD
player and CD RW had both disappeared from "My computer". I opened device
manager and opened the properties of each. The following message appears:
"Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration
information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)
Click Troubleshoot to start the troubleshooter for this device."
I run the troubleshooter but to no avail. I uninstalled the driver and let
"plug and play" find a new one. Nothing changed. I tried to restore the
system to an earlier time, but on every attempt system restore failed to
restore the computer to the time and date selected.
The CD rom and CD RW are
LG CD-ROM CRD 8522B
and
HD-DT-ST CD-RW GCE-8160B
I've tried everything my limited knowledge leads me to, but could sure use
some help. Any suggestions?
-Thanks in advance, -Steve
