Problems with x800gto starting in wrong resolution

I recently installed an X800GTO PCI-E card in my system, previously I had a
RADEON 9500 AGP card (and yes I do have a M/B with both slots). This new
card will not come up in the correct resolution, its starts in VGA more at
75hz but on shutdown it is set to 1280x1024 at 75hz. I have tried all sorts
of things to try and get it to stick at the correct (native) resolution of
my monitor but every time it starts up it always comes back at 640x480. I
am using the Omega drivers latest release on W2K SP4.

Anyone any ideas?

1. Uninstall the Omegas completely and try the regular Catalyst drivers. If
you want to avoid CCC, just download the driver-only package.
2. Make sure you have the latest INF file for your monitor, if one is
available.
3. Is your monitor connected via DVI? Does the same symptom appear over a
D-sub connection?

Some monitors (like the Samsung 191T) are known to have incorrect EDID data
that are duplicates with much earlier monitors. What is your monitor's make
and model?

Well I've fixed it now. I discovered that (when using RefreshForce) I
appear to have a number of identical monitors installed all with the
correct model etc, so I set up all the resolutions in all of the copies of
the monitor and it now comes up in 1280x1024 at 75Hz all the time.

The strange thing is that device manager only shows the hardware actually
installed, as does the divers and display proerties, but refreshforce finds
about 6 copies of the monitor????? Must be someting to do with the .inf
files but I have not found out how or why!

Why do you need Refreshforce, now that both CCC and ATi Tray Tools offer
effective ways to force screen refresh in 3D?
