Problems with TI4400 and WinXP

System:

Gigabyte GA7VT600 1394 MB
Athlon XP 2400 CPU
DDR 256MB 333
G4orce 4TI-4400 128MB graphics card
WinXP PRO SP1

Just installed this new MB in my system. Everything worked fine until I
downloaded the latest video drivers from NVIDIA. Now when I reboot after the
install I get the BSOD. So I go into safe mode and roll back the drivers to
the previous microsoft provided driver. Reboot and everything works fine
again. This was not a problem before when I was using an Intel based
system(D850EMV2L and a P4 2.2Ghz). Are there any known issues with this
board and my particular nvidia card?

When I installed the MB I used the provided CDROM to install the chipset
drivers. So I am thinking maybe I can try to get the latest 4n1 drivers form
via and try that.

Anyone got any other Ideas?

TIA

What is the power rating size of your PC's power supply? Usually, with an
AMD and an GeForce 4 TI card, people recommend a 350 watt power supply or
greater.

Its a 400w p/s. Plenty of power. What stumps me is that the microsoft
provided driver works for the device just fine, but the ones from the
nvidia website wont. I'm thinking maybe something could be wrong with
the card itself. But then again if that was the case, then it wouldn't
work regardless of what drivers I used, would it?

I, too, had a 400w p/s and a TI 4600. But it was a cheap power supply and
it ended up destroying my card. I went through two cards before I caught on
to what was happening Fortunately the repair department where I got my
equipment was generous enough not to charge me for the toasted video cards,
which were around $350 back then, and they earned my permanent loyalty :).
I replaced it with a good power supply and haven't had a problem since.

If your card is damaged or flakey, some specific drivers may or may not hit
upon what is causing a problem, so it isn't necessarily true that all
drivers would fail if your hardware was defective. FWIW, I've never had a
fatal problem with any released version of nVidia's drivers.

Well, its a codegen 400w p/s, I dont know if thats a substandard product
or not. I found a good deal on it and just bought it.

As far as drivers go, I too, have never had a problem with any of
nvidia's own drivers, until now.
