I have just reinstalled WinXP cuz I put a new Hard Drive on my system (The
onther one died on me) and I've been having lots of problems. They are
getting fixed slowly but surely.. Though this one has me stumped. This is the
error message(s) that I have been getting.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Generic Host Process for Win32 Services has encountered a problem and needs
to close.

EventType: BEX P1: svchost.exe

I:\DOCUME~1\Rick\LOCALS~1\Temp\WER2fd5.dir00\svchost.exe.mdmp

I would check out for viruses, spyware, Trojan horses and other related
stuff. And try to delete everything in Temp folder. If you cant while logged
as Rick then log off and log in as Administrator.

Here are my observations/guesses:

I have found this is caused by the windows audio service not running.
It is not running due to a service crash. This service is part of
svchost.exe, which seems to encapsulate it along with many other
services. Any one of the services running inside of svchost.exe can
crash, causing the others to go down with it.

Do you have a Dell Latitude D620 notebook?
