Problems with Sony Handycam in XP

I have a Sony Handycam DCR-TRV33E - and it works perfect in the Camera (Video)mode - but when I move to the Memory Stick Mode - it detects & installs it well - and shows up the new Removable Drive F:\ - however when I try to open it, it gives the message "F:\ is not accessible. The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error." I am using XP-Home on a Dell Centrino Laptop.

The same memory stick mode works fine when I connect to another PC with XP-Professional without any problem. It works fine also on other PC's with Win 2000 Professional version.

I have done evrything possible - including re-installing XP & Applications, Sony USB Drivers, Image Transfer software. I have also tried to install Win 2000 Professional on the 2nd HD-Partition on the same PC, but the same problem persists.

I dunno who can help me mate. Else I have to buy a USB Card Reader for my Laptop.

Thanks in advance to all who offer their advise & expertise.

I tested a pc-105 sony cam with memory stick and I just plugged in the usb
cable and xp found the camera and I used windows explorer to move the pics
from the card to the hard drive. Are you using sony's software to try to
view the pics? Have you tried explorer? Can you see teh pics on the meory
card on the cams screen? Just in case teh card is corrupt and cannot be
read!!

The Memory Stick is perfect & I can view images on the CAM screen, as well as when I connect to another PC with Win 2000 & XP Professional. I have used Windows Explorer & Sony's Image Transfer s/w both - does not help! I have 2 different memory stick - both have same problem.

When you re-installed XP did you check whether it worked before installing
anything else? As an app you have may be causing trouble, only other thing I
can think of.

Yeah I did try that too, before even installing the Broadband Cable Modem or the Network card, or the Dell Hardware drivers, or before downloading the XP upgrades. But nothing works - I have sent a mail to Sony on this today - and hope they can answer me....else, I need to buy a memory card reader.
