Problems with saving pictures from webpage

All of a sudden I can only save pictures as bmp files! I
tried saving with right clicking, using the tool bar, and
also file>save but the result is the same. This is really
annoying because bmp files are excessively big in file
size and also I cannot save animated gifs at all! Does
anyone know anything about this problem?

I have been doing that ever since I read the following
article: Microsoft Knowledge Base Article - 260650

However, I now notice that this has affected my ability to
save pictures/links, etc. in Outlook Express as well.
Further, clearing out the Temp. Internet Files no longer
works.

Does anyone know when MS will have a patch for this really
annoying problem? Or, do I need to just reload IE 5.0?
