Problems with RCA CDS4100

When I use the MGI software (that I used a year ago and
it worked) I keep getting a message when I try to "get
photos" from the camera. It reads: Connection Failed:
Please check that 1)Camera is on and 2) the serial cable
is connected between PC and camera. The camera IS on and
in record mode and the cable IS connected. Help.

Have you tried using another cable?

I have the same camera. I wnet to CompUSA and bought a USB Compact Flash
card reader for about $14.00. I just plugged it in (no drivers necessary),
and use that to transfer the photos. The card reader is many, many times
faster than the cable attached to the camera, and You don't have to open the
MGI software anymore.
