problems with pdf attachments

For the last couple of weeks when I receive mail with attached pdf files, if I try to move or delete the mail Windows
Mail hangs. Sometime it recovers but otherwise I need to kill it.

I can open the attachment by clicking on the paper clip etc and everything seems fine so I don't think it's
a security thing.

Try clearing your Temporary Internet Files in IE and see if that makes any difference. You can also compact and repair the WinMail database (www.oehelp.com/WMUtil/) and see if that has any affect.

I use ccleaner daily so that doesn't help.
I tried downloading the WMUtil thing and I will try that.
Thanks.

No luck. Cleanup and rebuild didn't help. If I go to one of my folders with an email with a pdf attachment
and just move the email to another folder, it hangs.

I don't have a clue then, since you indicated there is no problem in opening it. If the size is huge, there may be some delay in moving it from folder to folder, but otherwise I don't have a clue.

You might also send yourself a message with a large (comparably sized) image and see if the same thing happens if an image is involved to see if its related to file type or not.

No luck. Cleaning the temp files and rebuilding the folders didn't help. Any other suggestions?

Yes, Windows Live Mail does pretty much everything that Windows Mail
does, plus a few extras. The big 'selling' point is that, going forward
it is the only free mail client fully supported by Microsoft.

Incidentally, don't just call it "live mail" because that confuses it with
Windows Live Hotmail.

Thanks. I've installed it and so far, so good.

When I started up Windows Live Mail for the first time I was given an
(e-mail address removed) address.
Why was that ?

Glad to hear it. Thanks for reporting back.
I think you'll like the improvements coming down the pike.

When Windows Live Mail runs for the first time, it suggests you get
a Live ID (@hotmail.com or @live.com). It is not mandatory, but if
you accept that option, it activates the web-based extras, like auto-
backup and syncing of your contacts, and calendar syncing.

Note: Questions about Windows Live Mail should be asked in the
Windows Live Mail newsgroup:

http://www.microsoft.com/communitie...dg=microsoft.public.windows.live.mail.desktop
or via your news reader: news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsoft.public.windows.live.mail.desktop

Thanks again. I will be unsubscribing here but I've added the WLM group.
