Problems with Norton AV2004 after upgrade from 2003

I have recently purchsed NAV2004 as my license for 2003 ran out. Since
installing, the manual running of LiveUpdate keeps returning a LU1803 error. I
have been through the help on this on Symantec site and deleted all the files
they say. This works for a while (next day) and then gives the same error. I
have even been through deleting all and reinstalling NAV2004 but it works for a
day then fails again.

Any ideas???
I am running XPHE SP1 on a Dell 8200 that came with NAV2003 on it originally

Thanks
Steve

Others in these newsgroups have commented that one of the first things they
do with Norton is to turn off the LiveUpdate feature.

I don't let anything: Windows, McAfee, etc just will-nilly do any live
updates. I do them all manually - I don't trust the software folks to get it
right.

sometimes after reapeated trys to update, the update will
work by magic. reason is a temp file is corrupt or thats
what they say.

There seems to be a problem with the Norton LiveUpdate site since the last
(3/29) virus signature update. Apparently a lot of people are having
difficulty getting downloads to complete. I'd either wait a couple of days
before trying again (when Symantec will hopefully have the problem fixed),
or manually download the latest update (between 2 and 3 MB I believe. Around
7 for the corporate version of Norton).

This may not be the place to share this NAV problem. I paid for mine 1/27/04 and have confirmation.( Printed and verbal as I called them) Ran live on 3/2 along with one button check up and clean sweep. On 3/8 I got the following messages and my system hasn't worked sinc
NAV has encountered an internal program error. Uninstall and reinstall NAV 3002,1530( did this) amd got LiveUpdate aborted Reason LU1848 couldnt create a call back object;LU1821 failed tried to overwrite a file in use-close all. LU1823 appeared and then it shut down. Then I got Settings Alerts 1005.1 and 1005,3. I have done EVERYTHING they suggested and done uninstall/reinstall four times. Whatever is wrong started with Norton. At this point I cannot access microsoft tech support, symantec tech support, any tech help. Managed to run SpyBot successfully but it was the last one. Cannot access McAffe, Panda or any place else for a free virus scan( these were kind suggestions from people on this site). I get either your current security settings.... or The Page cannot be displayed... cannot access housecall by trendmicro(active x message) and AVG( This page Cannot...) either Can someone please walk me thru a solution?? THANKS!!! and hugs
