problems with my home network

i tried to connet 2 pcs . Both have windows xp pro sp2 . I
use the netgear modem/router to connect them and share the access to the
intenet. The problem is this : the one computer can see itself in the
workgroup and also can be seen by the other whereas the other can neither see
itself nor be seen by the first one . i checked th workgroup names and the ips
and they are ok. I have also checked both my internet security firewall and
the standart windows firewall so that they wan't cause any problems. I also
checked the sfs option and the registry value restrictanonymous . I used the
browstat program to ensure that both pcs name the same browser and i think
tha it is alright . Because i don't know much about this program i'll present
the results from both computers :

What is the internet security firewall? Who is the vendor? What antivirus do
you have?

Did you check the Hidden setting?

Try running the network setup wizard - on both computers.

Start -> Control Panel -> Network Setup Wizard.

Try setting them both up as (second page): My network is behind a hub.

After restarting, make sure that you have at least one shared folder on both computers. Usually, you will see a "Shared Documents" in the "My Computer" folder.

? ??????? "Chuck" ???????:
I have norton internet security and norton antivirus

Norton Internet Security (Norton Personal Firewall) is known here for not
accepting deactivation properly.

If your Node Type ("ipconfig /all") is NOT "Peer-Peer", then the most likely
suspect for your problem is NPF, which did not deactivate. There are a couple
others, so please read this article, and linked articles.
