Problems with Maxtor 200GB SATA

Hi.

My new Maxtor harddrive has got some writing problems. When I'm installing
files to the drive, or
extracting files on this drive, it seems like it is writing in
one second, and hanging in two seconds.

Now I've formatted the drive. It used 6 hours to do that job.

I got this problem after I used Partition magic, and got a total crash.

The computer is a 2,8 GHz Celeron. The Harddrive is Maxtor 200 GB, SATA.

Looking forward to get some ideas.

Something obviously wrong.
|First thing I'd do is to get rid of the partitioning by PM. Try using the
standard disk management tools on XP.
Then try formating normally or with the Maxtor disk utilities program that
can be downloaded from their site.

If nothing changes run their disk utility program on the hdd to make sure
there's no problem with the disk itself.
