Problems with date drop down boxes,.. Nvidia conflict?

G

Guest

I can no longer get into the drop down boxes in Calendar. As soon as I move
the mouse they vanish/close.

I have tried Detect & Repair.
I have tried reinstalling over the top.

The only thing that seems to affect it is I am running an GeforceNvidia
fx5200 graphics card with dualscreen enabled, and when I changed some of
these options it started for a while. However, I have had Outlook working
fine on this system for nearly a year with no conflicts. I ahve tried
upgrading tothe latest driver.. and going back to the original one, but
neither make any difference

Can some clever person please help becasue I don't want ot have to rebuild
this system to get this working!

Many thanks

Outlook 2003
the Date & Start & end times, also reminder time.

They all close as I move the mouse towards them.

Close Outlook, find and rename frmscache.dat to .old. Reopen Outlook and
see if it is any better.

Milly, I'm afraid tis didn't help. The problem seems to be all date & time
drop downs

Do you have any custom forms or add-ins installed? If yes, uncheck them one
by one until you find the problem.

Milly,
No custom forms. The only add-ins are ones that have worked perfectly ok
before withthese drop-down boxes.

I have Exchange Extensions& Windoes CE, plus Outlook back-up..... all of
which are old and previously worked.

I know it isn't to do with the pst fiules becuse I don't have any problems
with the same file on another computer.

Have you come across this before? Shouldn't either the Dectect & Repair, or
the Re-install ahve fixed it? I really am at my wits end.

Milly,
I have done this numerous times. I have:-

* Gone back to the original driverthat came with the card
* Got the latest one from Nvidia (which appears to be properly certified)
* Done the reinstall in safe mode to avoid problems with Norton
Anti-virus

I have also established that I have the same problem in Safe mode, which if
Iam correct, doesn't use the Nvidia driver. I am interpretting this as
meaning it is an Outlook problem.

What next???

Hi - I also have experienced the same problem on an otherwise stable system.
This would appear to have been since downloading the latest patches approx 1
week ago. I am using Outlook 2002, SP3, and have an NVIDIA motherboard,
however I don't feel that the motherboard is the problem.

Can I remove the latest patches, and see if that works?

BTW - as a workaround, I can type the dates in manually, but it IS a pain!

So what was the resolution?

I have this same problem but I can't find an answer. I use the same
workaround and it is a pain. I wish someone could help!

Jess said:
BTW - as a workaround, I can type the dates in manually, but it IS a pain!

So what was the resolution?

Jess said:
Hi - I also have experienced the same problem on an otherwise stable system.
This would appear to have been since downloading the latest patches approx 1
week ago. I am using Outlook 2002, SP3, and have an NVIDIA motherboard,
however I don't feel that the motherboard is the problem.

Can I remove the latest patches, and see if that works?

Milly... what do I do next??

Milly,
I have done this numerous times. I have:-

* Gone back to the original driverthat came with the card
* Got the latest one from Nvidia (which appears to be properly
certified)
* Done the reinstall in safe mode to avoid problems with Norton
Anti-virus

I have also established that I have the same problem in Safe mode, which
if Iam correct, doesn't use the Nvidia driver. I am interpretting this as
meaning it is an Outlook problem.

What next???

I would try reinstalling your video drivers as a last resort.

||||||||||| Milly, I'm afraid tis didn't help. The problem seems to be

|||||||||||| Close Outlook, find and rename frmscache.dat to .old.
|||||||||||| Reopen Outlook and see if it is any better.

|||||||||||||| After furious head scratching, rfc asked:
||||||||||||||
||||||||||||||| I can no longer get into the drop down boxes in
||||||||||||||| Calendar. As soon as I move the mouse they vanish/close.
|||||||||||||||
||||||||||||||| I have tried Detect & Repair.
||||||||||||||| I have tried reinstalling over the top.
|||||||||||||||
||||||||||||||| The only thing that seems to affect it is I am running
||||||||||||||| an GeforceNvidia fx5200 graphics card with dualscreen
||||||||||||||| enabled, and when I changed some of these options it
||||||||||||||| started for a while. However, I have had Outlook working
||||||||||||||| fine on this system for nearly a year with no conflicts.
||||||||||||||| I ahve tried upgrading tothe latest driver.. and going
||||||||||||||| back to the original one, but neither make any
||||||||||||||| difference
|||||||||||||||
||||||||||||||| Can some clever person please help becasue I don't want
||||||||||||||| ot have to rebuild this system to get this working!
|||||||||||||||
||||||||||||||| Many thanks
|||||||||||||||
