problems with brand new hardware and XP Home

Hi,
i recently purchased all hardware needed for running a home pc for gaming,
msn etc. from micro direct:
ABIT SG-80
250GB Samsung SATA HDD
Samsung DVD rom disk drive
RAM
Intel Celeron D 2.8Ghz
(i had the rest of the hardware already)

i installed all the hardware correctly and installed XP home, i the
activated it and installed these programs:
AVG
Zone Alarm
itunes
quick time
Abit drivers
Sapphire ATI Graphic Drivers

The pc worked well before and after the software installment. i then turned
of the pc and removed an old fan i had installed to prevent noise as it was
not needed, i then turned the pc off.

i walked the dog and came home to go on the desktop again, it wont boot.
not even to the BIOS, it reads the disk inside the DVD rom (no disk in there
though) and then beeps and reapets that stage over and over.

I've double checked the wires etc. and everything is correct, i cant think
of anything atall, any help will be greatly appriciated!

thanks
Richard Edmonds

Are you sure you didn't short anything when you removed the fan, try
reconnecting the fan and see if it is still the same, if this clears it then
replace the fan with one that is not so noisy.

tried it and no joy, i believe it may be the motherboard as i tried a
different dvd ROM and IDE cable

Sounds like MB to me too, looks like you will have to replace. They are
cheap enough to get though.

just 1 and a couple of weird noises just before each beep.

thanks.

You say just one beep, and then say "before each one"?? IS there more than
one beep or not?
