Problems with Accents

I'm using Outlook 2003 with Word as the e-mail editor,
with Proofing Tools installed. I receive a lot of e-mails
in languages that use accents (French, Spanish,
Portuguese, etc...). Usually, I have no problems viewing
the messages. However, accents are not displayed properly
in the messages of some senders. Accentuated characters
are replaced by a non accentuated character, with no
apparent connection (e.g. accentuated "e" replaced
by "g"). If I view the source, all characters are
properly displayed, with all accents. As I mentioned,
this only happens with messages sent by a couple of
senders (all of their messages). According to these
senders, they view my messages correctly, it's me who
can't view theirs in a correct manner. Any ideas on the
cause of this strange behaviour?

What is the default language for Office? How is the keyboard set?

What is the default language for Office? How is the
keyboard set?

Default language for Office is English. Keyboard is set
to Portuguese characters. By the way, I used Outlook
Express 6 previously with no problems whatsoever. I'm
using Outlook 2003 currently.
