Problems with a KBV SE Deluxe

I have built a pc around a KBV SE Deluxe with a 3000+ Sempron
processor, it boots up just fine but when I try to install Windows it
just halts prior to the partitioning part of the installation
procedure. Any idea?

Could be a problem with the memory or drive (controller or cable).
Try a different hard drive cable as well as plugging it into a differerent
SATA or IDE ATA connector. Also, try running a memory test
such as the following free one:
