Problems when viewing on web site - changes to another site

Hi, for the past few days I've noticed that almost every time I'm on the
web looking at something another web page comes up and fills the screen.
Usually it's a gambling/betting site (never looked at them before).
Still happens even though I regularly clear my cookies and files etc.
Tried blocking the site on my router but it still appears (partially).
Pop ups have been blocked on the tool bars I have so I can't seem to
figure out what's going on. If anyone knows any cures for this I'd
appreciate it.
Try to install Norton 'ad-on' but it made my laptop run very very slow
so had to take it off.
Thanks in advance

Your pc is infected with malaware.
Try all these, Adaware, SpyBot, Windows defender
google, download update and run all - they are all free

Do a thorough check for malware, following all of the steps at one of these
Web pages.
Help with malware:
All MS-MVP Sites.

So How Did I Get Infected Anyway?
For quite a few people it's by installing programs like Messenger Plus,
whose ads for malware don't identify the malware as such and try to convince
you that you owe it to the author. See also:

Don't ever do a "default" install of anything. Always choose Custom and see
what else is being carried along. Don't install any extras you're not sure
of.
