Problems when installing XPe SP2 FP2007

Hello,

I have a problem when installing XP Embedded SP2 Feature Pack 2007.
When I choose Database Update I get the following message:

A new platform object needs to be installed before this update can be
installed. Please download the latest platform update from <http://
www.microsoft.com/embedded> and install it before attempting to
install this QFE.

Before I had installed XPe SP2 over my existing XPe SP1 without
problems. The underlying OS is Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition
SP1.

Which platform update do I need? I don't find any one on the Windows
Embedded web sites.

Regards,
Alexander

Hi Alexander,

To install Windows XP Embedded SP2 Feature Pack 2007, the minimum revision
number of platform object should be 2010 which is the revision number for
"Windows XP Embedded SP2" database. If you have "Windows XP Embedded SP2"
database installaed correctly, you should have no issues installing "Windows
XP Embedded SP2 Feature Pack 2007" database.

You can check the platform revision in "Component Database Manager" under
the "Platform" tab. The available platform should be Windows XP Embedded
Client (x86) [Version 5.1.2600,R2010] if you have Windows XP Embedded SP2
database installed.

Please let me know if you face any issues.

Thanks,
Shweta

Hello Shweta,

thanks for your response.
I have found the reason for the message. By installing first WinXPe
SP2 and then FP2007 I followed the instructions referred by "Get
Started" on the CD menu. There has also been points to backup and
restore the database and repositories and I had understood that in the
way that the database should be backed up before the update and then
restored thereafter. But by the restoring I got the old state Version
5.1.2600,R1906 of SP1 and that has been the state from which I tried
to install FP2007. After reinstalling everything all went well.

Regards,
Alexander
