Problems watching Flash videos

For a while now I've been having problems watching Flash videos on sites like
Youtube. The video generally starts ok but then freezes up and i'll get the
'loading' animation. Sometimes the video will start up again fairly quickly,
sometimes it will take ages, and sometimes it won't restart atall.
I recently began learning to use a new app with the aid of online video
tutorials and to say this problem is frustrating would be an understatement.
I rarely get to see the whole video. Any help would be appreciated.

First thing to check is that your network/internet connection is OK. Try
downloading a 10-20MB file directly, and see if that works. If not you need
to investigate the fault.

Also, try downloading a YouTube animation directly with
http://clipnabber.com -if the download fails partway you have a network
problem.

You save the download as a .flv file, BTW. This can be played with (among
others) Media Player Classic.

If all of these work then you have a problem with your Flash plugin, I would
guess.
