Problems w/ WMV format

D

Dan N

I have recently re-installed Windows & components to my computer, and
reinstalled all software. I am not sure at what time the WMV file
format stopped working, but for some reason no media player can seem to
play that format without crashing, it wants to send a technical report
to MS about the crash. I've tried reinstalling MS Media Player 10.
I've installed RealPlayer, which is supposed to support the same format,
and nothing. I am able to play other formats it seems. I thought it
was codec problem, so I reinstalled all the codecs that I'm familiar
with/that I have and it still hasn't helped.

Would appreciate any/all help. Thank you in advance.

You might want to check if your running Windows XP Service Pack 2. I
encountered a similar problem and once I installed XP SP2, I was able to run
Windows Media 10. Also, some third party codecs a nolonger downloaded
automatically by Media Player 10.
