Problems since installing SP2

Two problems have arisen since I installed Service Pack 2.

First, my laptop (Dell Inspiron 1150) has been markedly slower across the
board since I installed it. The one curious thing the Task Manager shows is
multiple versions of svchost.exe running simultaneously. I also have some
suspicions about the new anti-spyware/popup stuff eating memory, too. But can
someone point me more specifically in the right direction?

Also, about every 20 minutes, my wireless connection resets itself and pulls
an 8-character network key from somewhere, and I have to paste in the proper,
26-character one to resume my connection.

How long has it been? It can take several days and 3 or 4 reboots for
it to speed up. First defrag. The boot prefetch will kick in after the
3 rd reboot. It takes several days for the prefetch folder to be
rebuilt. And the in built optimization kicks in every 3 days. After
that defrag again. If the system is still slow after some days try some
clean boot troubleshooting to see what may be hanging up on startup. A
program may need to be uninstalled / reinstalled:

Have you booted into Safe Mode and run Defrag?

Dell Inspiron 1150 and 2650 Slowdown - Machines with Celeron processors
may slow down dramatically after SP2. An apparent fix, posted by
someone at a Dell forum, was to roll back the processor driver.

From the Control Panel System applet, select Hardware and then Device
Manager. Open the processor section and double-click on the processor.
Then click on the driver tab, and "roll back driver". Follow the
prompts.

What happened is that SP2 installed a new driver called intelppm.sys
that seems to have a problem. This process restored a driver called
processr.sys that was previously installed. This seems to only affect
those laptops with Celeron processors.

For your wireless problem, try updating the drivers for the device from
Dell's support site.

Thanks to all of you for replying so quickly. Malke-- I rolled back the
driver and rebooted, and I've got my old (fast) laptop back!

I'll defrag, too, per the other suggestions-- it's probably long overdue.
