I'm running Office 07.
when i try to save a file that's an attachment to an email, the "Save As"
window eventually appears. If i simply click to save, the file saves with
the right extension (.doc or .xls or whatever), even though the extension
does not appear in the file name box. if, however, i change the name of the
file, then the extension gets lost, and so the file gets saved without an
extension (and of course without an association).
I think the problem comes because the "Save as Type" box reads "All Files"
rather than the file type that the extension would indicate
I doubt there's any fix that i can do, but if there is i'd certainly welcome
it. in meantime, i hope MS folks will see, because this is annoying behavior.
