Problems running games on XP

I just installed XP Pro & updated with the SP 2. My problem is when ever I
start a game, even one designed for XP, the computer reboots. This usually
happens when the ingame menu starts to load. I get a brief error message,
which I don't see long enough to read, and then it reboots. Any ideas?

Right click My Compter, Properties, Advanced, then in the Startup and
Recovery Section, Uncheck "Automatically Restart" You should then be able
to see the error message. Post back here with what it says.

In addition to what Ron suggested, have you checked you're system with your
anti-virus program running the latest definitions lately? If you're having
problems launching programs, you may very well have a virus or Trojan on
your system. There's additional information here: www.aumha.org/secure .

If you do a reinstall of a game, does it then run correctly? There are some
issues with certain programs and XP SP2 as noted in this Knowledge Base
article from Microsoft:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;886264 Most gaming
problems, however, are related to the Windows Firewall Security Warning in
XP SP2.

Hi Vanern,

You should also determine what video card you have and make sure you
have updated drivers for it. The behavior you describe is usually caused by
your video hardware drivers doing something wrong.
