Problems Playing DVDs, is it WMP?

I'm running a Toshiba Tecra M1 with WinXP Pro, DirectX 9.0b, Windows Media Player (latest release), InterVideo WinDVD4 (DVD decoder), and the latest Sound and Video drivers (SoundMax and Trident Video Accelerator) from Toshiba's support site.

Before I installed the video driver, when I inserted a DVD and attempted to play it via Windows Media Player, I could hear the sound but didn't get any video. When I installed the video driver and pressed "Play" the screen went black and then the system rebooted.

I'm not sure what to look at here, my fear is that I will get lost in M/S Windows Support never-never land.

Thanks for any suggestions.

What happens when you try and play the DVD with WinDVD?

Hi,
I have a Toshiba Satellite 911 with a Trident
CyberAlladin-P4 video system....
How can I help you to find the correct driver ?
I got mine from drivers.com some time ago...

According to the Toshiba support site, the driver I downloaded from them two
days ago was the latest video driver for the laptop I have. Are you saying
there might be another one?

If you got it from Toshiba then I would trust it....still
if it makes your machine reboot...somethings not working
correctly. You can always use the roll back feature to go
back to the previous driver.
