Problems installing printers

My system has had 2 hard drive failures in the past 6 months. being under
warranty a authorized service center replaced the hard drive and reinstalled
XP from the provided CD. The first time, everything worked fine. This time,
every time I go to install a printer, the wizard comes up with what I believe
are missing files from XP. For example, I was prompted for the location of
sRGB.ICM. Each time it comes up with these messages, I search the system and
sometimes find the correct file and sometimes come up empty handed. I am
trying to figure out if there are some directories missing from my install
that I can create/populate possibly from other XP systems that I own. The
only other option is to use the CD that came with my system and that starts
with formatting the hard drive which is not acceptable...It takes me a week
or more to get everything set up again. any clues would be helpful

HP, right?

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=sRGB.ICM&btnG=Google+Search

Added info:

This workaround is for an HP Printer, use accordingly:

1. When the Found New Hardware Wizard starts at startup of the computer,
click <next>.

2. When it asks you for the HP disk, (the next thing that will require a
response from you probably), click <ok>. However, do NOT insert the disk
into your CD-ROM drive.

3. On the next screen that comes up, there will be a button that is already
highlighted telling the wizard where to find the printer driver (which is
what it is looking for). This button will be pointing it at "other media,
CD-ROM,etc.

The trick is to DESELECT this button. At that point, the button for your C:
drive will become active and you can select the C: drive. It will also
probably be prompting you with the location for the already installed HP
printer driver that is somewhere on your C: drive. (If not, you need to
click browse and locate the driver).

4. After you have deselected the CDROM and selected the C: drive, click
<ok> (or <next>) The Wizard then makes a second copy of your printer driver
(and, by the way, creates a second "installed printer" in your Control
Panel/Printers). And then, the wizard finally completes and tells you that
you have successfully installed the new hardware.

5. On subsequent startup, the Wizard should then NOT run.

I hate to tell you this, but it sounds like you are still having
hardware problems. I would look to the motherboard itself as the
culprit. Take the computer back to where you bought it before the
warranty is out and tell them you want a new one. Then set up the new
one (or have a good local computer pro set it up for you), and consider
imaging the drive for quick restoration. Make sure you have a good
backup strategy and follow it.

Sorry...went out of town for a few days.

Yes...HP is correct and I am running XP home edition.
The problem I have is that when I browse for the driver, I cannot find it.
I suspect that you are on the right track. The driver may be in a partially
installed state and as I thing back, according to HP you should install the
drivers first, then attach the printer. I am guessing that I may have
attached first then tried to install the drivers for 2 of the 3 printers.
The one that works I know I followed the recommended procedures. If what I
surmise is correct, then the question is how to clean this up for the 2
printers and start fresh, or do as you suggest but need to figure out where
to find the driver when browsing.

Thanks for your help...it is appreciated
