problems during W2K startup...

W2K professional on three computers is locking at
the "applying computer settings" phase of start up. Boot
up is also extremely slow when I tried to login via Safe
Mode and Safe Mode w/ Command Prompt. Safe Mode w/ Network
locks also.

What could the problem possibly be?

Possibly a NIC problem. Try unplugging it from the
network and see if the problem exists. If so try re-
installing the NICs. Are you using teaming?

Uninstalling and reinstalling the NICs seemed to have
worked.
