problems during insalation

Hi there,
I try to install Vista but during instalation i receive this error msg
0xc0000098
kernel is missing or corupt
I try fresh instal and upgrade from xp pro
same result

AMD Atlon 64 X2 4200+
1 gb ram
120 wd IDE
120 hitachi SATA
Any ideas?

Is this a download image file or a dvd kit mailed by MS? If the download,
be sure to burn to disc at the slowest available speed.
