problems connecting to projector

I just purchased a BENQ MP620p projector and it does not pick up the
signal from my Toshiba Satellite A10/A15 laptop but does pick it up
from my desktop. What should I do?

Have you set the laptop to show the second 'monitor'? Right-click on the
desktop and chose Properties then click on settings. Make sure there is a
checkmark inthe box that says Extend my Windows desktop onto this monitor.
If that's not the problem, there is a key on a laptop that can cycle through
what is projected. It is not always in the same place, but you use the
Function key with it. It is probably around F8 but should say something like
CRT/LCD on it. Hope this helps.

For starters, make sure the projector's on and attached to the laptop when you
start up the laptop. Then press Fn + F5 (it's that on both of the Toshibas
I've used) to toggle from laptop screen to external to both and round again.
