Problems configuring a 2000 server as an internet router

I am trying to setup a small office network with some
security. I currently have all of the machines named and
in the same workgroup. A DSL Modem connects to - server
nic #1 and server nic #2 connected to the up link port on
my net gear 10/100 switch. the other 4 ports from the
switch then connect to - 3 win 2000 pro machines and 1 XP
Pro machine.

My goal is to configure the server as the internet
router with NIC 1 as the public side and NIC 2 as the
private intranet side for the workstations to be hidden
behind the server while enabling file sharing and internet
browsing throught the server. I think I should be setting
up the server with NAT, but can't get it to work. Can
anyone point me to a step by step guide. Thanks any help
would be much appreciated.

Hi - well, this might sound off-topic, but considering that you can pick up
a cheap and cheerful hardware & SPI firewall appliance for about $80, I
honestly don't see the point of trying to turn a server into a router -
especially when it's your only server. ISA is nice, but I wouldn't want it
on a server that wasn't dedicated exclusively to that task. Just my $.02
