Problem: Word documents open in Wordperfect

Hello,
I received a Word document as an email attachment, but Wordperfect tried to
open it and couldn't. The error said: The file '(FILE NAME HERE).doc' as
specified in the execution parameters cannot be opened.
I don't want Wordperfect to be my default document program. How can this be
corrected?

This might remain a problem if you have both Word and Word Perfect on your
PC. You need to check with a Word Perfect forum to se if there is a registry
hack to ensure that WP does not grab registry entries related to file
associations that Word uses i.e. doc files.

However your problem is exacerbated by the fact that you are opening files
directly from e-mail documents which is poor practice. Save them to the hard
drive and open them from within Word.

work, as it may not if Word Perfect wants to cling to the entries, try
opening Windows Explorer, select a DOC file - right click and choose Open
With . At the bottom of the list of available applications (which may
contain Word - which you should ignore for the moment) is 'Choose Program'
Select that option and then click 'browse'. Browse to the folder containing
WinWord.exe. Select that and check the box 'always use the selected program
....' OK out of the dialogs.
