I have a problem with XP(sp2 pro ) Backup Utility.

I have a network with 3 "user-disks" an a 4:th disk
used only for backup of the other 3.
After a full backups I have scheduled incremental backups
every night at 3:00, 4:00, and 5:00 for the 3 disks..
It works for a few night and then the backup of one
of the disks just stops working.
I get entries in the "Backup reports" but it is empty
for the failing disk.
Modified date for the backup file for the failing disk is
for the date of the last date it worked.

The strangest thing is that if I look in the log file
form Scheduled Tasks, there is NO entries after the
date for the last working backup. Despite the fact
that the backup from the 2 other disks was made.

I can remove the job from schedule and add a new
job and it will work for a few night and then stop.

Any suggestions ??

Stop doing a poor mans network and setup a server, depending on your
situation, Action Pack subscription (about $300), or SBS 2003, or
Educational versions....

As for why it fails, have you considered that the backups might overlap
the last one and that if the second is still running, the third can't
start?

Well, this is a home network. $300 is way over my budget for this.

The second backup is ready about 56 minutes before the third is to
start. I think thats nuf'.
