Problem with Verizon EVDO Card Connection Manager

G

Guy Copeland

Anti Spyware scan identified file c:\program files\mobile
connection manager\unzdll.dll as Actmon, a commercial
keystroke logger presenting severe risk. Removal resulted
in disabling connection manager software for Verizon EVDO
broadband wireless (GPRS) card thus blocking it's use.
Verizon EVDO Connection Manager install CD has repair
function which restored unzdll.dll file so connection
manager and EVDO card worked again. Either Microsoft has
error in Actmon file identification, or Verizon
coincidentally named a key file the same file name as
Actmon, or Verizon is using a keystroke logger, or ...?

This sounds clearly like a false positive to me. If your machine is clean
of viruses and spyware, and you've just restored the file from a read-only
medium supplied by the (reputable!) vendor, if Microsoft Antispyware still
sees this file as bad, that's a false positive.

Thanks for reporting it. False positives are best reported in the
..signatures group, and there is also a direct web-form for such reports,
especially from vendors whose product is directly affected:
