problem with uploading a plain text file

I work for a company typing audio. When I'm done I have to save my file as a
..txt in order to upload to their site. I haven't had any problems until now.
Now when I try to upload a plain text file from word or any other program,
the upload won't take it and keeps telling me that the file has to be plain
text, even though the file is a plain text. I also turned off my firewall
temporarily. That didn't work. Thanks for any help.
