Problem with Remote Desktop

I am having problem with remote desktop on my Vista Ultimate machine.

I am using two machines, one XP and one Vista. Both with the latest updates
installed. I am using the XP machine to connect to the Vista machine. Here's
what happens:

1) Connecting to the Vista Machine using XP:s RD works just fine.
2) Being connected everythings works like a charm
3) I can log out and log in without any problem

The XP machine is at my office, the Vista machine at home. When I return
home and check the Vista machine I can see the log in screen. So I type in
the password and press Enter and Vista says "Welcome" --- and then nothing
happens. The same thing happens if I try to reboot the machine from the log
in screen.
There's nothing else I can do that to shut down the PC.

Any clue?

Thank you very much for your answer! What is the difference between your
suggestion and restarting the Vista machine remotely from the XP machine
using the "ordinary" reboot button?
